Film has the power to break down borders, connect stories, and redefine identities. In a world where Afro-descendant narratives continue to struggle for a place, it is essential to create platforms that amplify their voices and celebrate their cultural richness.
Under this premise, on April 4, 2025, Cartagena will host an unprecedented event: Africa in the Caribbean and the Colombian Pacific, a space for dialogue, creation, and exhibition that unites filmmakers, producers, academics, and cultural leaders around the audiovisual potential of our regions.
Organized by the Quibdó Africa Film Festival (QAFF) in collaboration with Visper, Zarpar Producciones Films, and Rosa Mezcal, this event serves as a meeting point for African, Afro-descendant, and Latin American cinema, with the aim of strengthening the co-production, distribution, and visibility of stories that break with hegemonic narratives.
Through discussions, screenings, industry gatherings, and cultural celebrations, we will explore the invisible borders that have historically separated our stories, and how film can serve as a bridge to overcome them.
